About

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The birth of this project began on the 30th of Ramadan 1443, which coincided with 2 May 2022.

The inspiration for the name comes from the classical Arabic word: تُرْجُمَان

This word can be translated either as: interpreter, translator or the old English word: dragoman

The word dragoman referred to translators or interpreters in the Middle East. It therefore felt most appropriate to use this ’lost’ word for a project dedicated to translating Classical Islamic(Arabic) texts.

History

This project began with the efforts of Kentoseth. The initial concept was discussed here and then further discussed here.

A pertinent issue was then raised on the arabic-for-nerds blog regarding the sourcing and digitization of Classical Islamic(Arabic) texts.

These three articles collectively form the foundations or inspiration for this project.

Goals and Intention

The primary goal for this project is to Please Allah. The secondary goal is to leave a lasting legacy that can live beyond my mortal life and be beneficial for the upliftment of Islam.

All Rewards from Allah for this project are dedicated to 3 groups of people:
